The Western Regional Conference on Jewish Literature for Children will take place on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the Sinai Temple Blumenthal Library, located at 10400 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. This year's conference will focus on illustration.
The morning panel and breakout sessions will feature a survey of children's book illustration with Lois Sarkissian of Every Picture Tells a Story in Santa Monica, California, and hands-on workshops with illustrators Amalia Hoffman, Marissa Moss, Steve Sheinkin, and Elisa Kleven. The day will also include an art exhibit and silent auction, an autograph/dessert party with the featured authors, and a Jewish Literature for Children Marketplace and Book Sale.
The annual one-day event is open to educators, librarians, authors, booksellers, would-be authors and adults who have a passion for Jewish children's literature. Special rates for students and groups are available. For reservations and information, phone 818-886-6415, email Susan Dubin, or Lisa Silverman.
