The SSCBWI online discussion group started as a small number of Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators members who were Shomer Shabbos and wanted to network about Sunday conferences (hence, the name: Shomer Shabbos Children's Book Writers & Illustrators). Since then, the group has grown to include writers, illustrators, editors, and librarians of all levels of observance, but who are all committed to the creation and publication of Jewish-themed books for children.
